Norma directs the development and implementation of sustainable strategies for Beck and our projects. A registered interior designer, Norma joined Beck as part of our healthcare design team. With nearly a decade of experience in evidence-based healthcare initiatives, Norma now brings that knowledge and experience to projects seeking high performance and energy efficiency. Under her leadership, Beck signed the AIA 2030 Commitment in an effort to reduce the energy consumption in the buildings we design. Additionally, Beck became an early advocate for health product declarations, focusing on the health impacts of building materials.
In addition to accreditation by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) as a LEED® AP BD+C and by the International WELL Building InstituteTM (IWBI) as a WELL Accredited Professional, she has a Master of Arts degree in Sustainability and Development from Southern Methodist University. Norma sits on the board of USGBC North Texas. With a diverse portfolio of project types, representing both design and construction, Norma is a frequent speaker nationwide on implementing sustainable measures during the building process. Once you meet Norma, you’ll notice she’s passionate about helping others. She is actively involved with Reading Partners and Real School Gardens, recently leading our team to install a garden at Urban Park Elementary in Dallas. Outside of work, she stays busy with travel and sharing her love for nature with her grandchildren.
