  • Apr 19, 2024

The Georgia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) named The Beck Group its 2024 Architecture Firm of the Year.

AIA Georgia awards the Architecture Firm of the Year to a firm whose passion and practice have produced notable architecture, contributed to society for a decade, and furthered the AIA’s objectives.

“We’re thrilled and thankful to the AIA Georgia for this recognition. As a design-driven architecture and construction firm, we strive for innovation and collaboration in all we do. That has led to great projects and a chance to give back to our people and the greater community, ” says Ryan Horne, Architecture Principal at Beck’s Atlanta office.

Beck has had an outsized impact on metro Atlanta’s built environment in recent years. That impact spans many impressive design projects, including:

  • The groundbreaking and community-improving Melody project
  • Inspired design for health professionals at the Emory Nursing Learning Center
  • Redefining the retail mall experience at Phipps Plaza
  • Revitalizing downtown Atlanta’s Peachtree Center
  • Honoring legacy at The University of Georgia’s Black-Diallo-Miller Residence Hall

The Beck Group designed and built The Melody.

Elevating the industry and community

The firm has also committed to contributing to and enhancing the profession through service to AIA. Its involvement includes the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program, Architects Foundation, ASPIRE Conference, and AIA board participation.

Additionally, Beck partners with organizations like the Center for Children & Young Adults, Livable Buckhead, Augusta Dream Center, and more to improve its community. In 2022, the firm formed a Protégé Partnership with MOSA Architects, a Snellville-based woman- and minority-owned firm.

A storied history in Georgia

Beck’s history in Atlanta began in 1939 when the firm opened an office there. From office buildings to hotels to mixed-use retail developments, it transformed the city through high-profile projects like Underground Atlanta, One Atlantic Center, Martin Luther King Jr Federal Building and the First National Bank Building.

In 2003, Beck’s Atlanta office integrated architecture and interior design services. Since then, it has continued growing its award-winning design portfolio.
