The Beck Group Earns DBIA National Award of Merit for The Hub at Peachtree Center

  • Aug 3, 2020

The Beck Group was recently awarded a National Award of Merit in the Rehab, Renovation, and/or Restoration category from the Design-Build Institute of America for The Hub at Peachtree Center.

Peachtree Center is a major mixed-use center in the heart of Atlanta’s downtown business, hotel, and convention district. Its six office towers and adjacent hotel towers create one of the most distinctive silhouettes on the Atlanta skyline. This projects endeavors to strengthen the role of Peachtree Center as a vital participant in the excitement and revitalization of Atlanta’s downtown core.

The Plaza has been redesigned to create a vibrant civic amenity that will engage with the activity of Peachtree Street. The design removes the barriers that impede pedestrian flow and increases usable space within The Plaza by covering the skylights and creating a new glass enclosed stair connecting to the Retail Center. The Retail Center will undergo a complete upgrade to all finishes and furnishings. Three different entrances to the Retail Center will be renovated, including the MARTA entrance on Peachtree Street. Peachtree Center was originally a John Portman development.

DBIA’s 2020 award-winning projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of design-build experts. A full list of project winners, including photos and descriptions of each project can be found online at DBIA’s Project/Team Awards page. The Merit Award winners will now compete for a National Award of Excellence and Project of the Year to be announced at DBIA’s Design-Build Conference and Expo Awards Ceremony, October 29th.
