The Beck Group Wins DBIA Awards for Denver Hotel Project
- Feb 2, 2021
Integrated design-build firm The Beck Group recently won two regional Design-Build Institute of America awards for its design and construction of Denver’s newest high-rise hotel, 15th & Stout Dual Brand Hotel.
The DBIA Rocky Mountain Region presented The Beck Group with awards in the Best Overall Project and Commercial categories for its work on the 22-story hotel owned by Stonebridge Companies. The 266,000 SF hotel is in the heart of the city’s downtown, about a block from the Colorado Convention Center.
Completed in late 2019, the high-rise hotel includes one below-grade level, an at-grade lobby, five levels of structured parking, and 15 levels of guest rooms totaling 382 rooms. The hotel also offers a dual-brand shared front desk, lobby, breakfast space, fitness center, meeting/conferencing space, an upscale bar, and other amenities.
The DBIA awards recognized that The Beck Group succeeded in meeting the project’s design challenge to combine two dissimilar Hilton hotel flags, Tru by Hilton and Home2Suites, in a simple, contemporary, and efficient manner. Home2Suites is described as an extended-stay offering, while Tru by Hilton caters more to young, hip, and trendy guests.
Transforming the existing prototype for a dual-branded Hilton hotel into a high-rise presented a unique challenge for The Beck Group. However, the firm more than met the hotel owner’s expectations, producing a cohesive design while enhancing the level of aesthetics typically not found in dual-brand offerings. The Beck Group also completed this project ahead of schedule and under budget.
“We are honored to win these DBIA awards. The awards recognize our design excellence and quality approach in creating distinctive, large-scale projects such as the 15th & Stout hotel,” said Beck Principal Doug Spuler, AIA. “We want to acknowledge Stonebridge Companies for giving us this tremendous opportunity to build a first-class hotel that is an integral part of Denver’s expanding skyline. We also want to thank our talented and dedicated design-build team whose hard work and collaborative spirit produced the best possible outcome for this project.
