Two Projects Honored with DBIA Awards

  • Aug 15, 2016

The Design-Build Institute of America recently announced their 2016 Award of Merit winners. Two projects designed and built by The Beck Group made the list – The Texas Christian University Frog Alley Parking Garage and the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park Visitor’s Center.

  • The Texas Christian University Frog Alley Parking Garage was recognized in the Commercial Buildings/Office Buildings Category. Beck served as the designer and builder for the 343,400-square-foot garage. Beck’s architects and contractors worked side-by-side to deliver both world-class design and building expertise for this “unexpected gem” on the TCU campus. The design aligns with the Fort Worth Deco aesthetic of the nearby athletic venues. It was completed on time within nine months, during North Texas’ wettest year on record, and under budget.
  • The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park Visitor’s Center also received recognition, in the Civic/Assembly category. The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, a vital economic engine for southern Colorado, was devastated by the Royal Gorge Fire on June 11, 2013. Faced with a compressed timeline and a project without a known budget, the owner selected The Beck Group to re-build the park’s facilities through a fully integrated design-build delivery model. In less than 13 months from award, the Beck team took the project from a scorched site to grand opening.

The 2016 Design-Build Project/Team Awards showcase design-build best practices and celebrate the achievements of owners and design-build teams in ten categories across the spectrum of horizontal and vertical construction.
