Two Projects Honored with IIDA Awards

The Beck Group was honored with two prestigious International Interior Design Awards (IIDA) for design excellence. The integrated design-build firm received the IIDA RMC Best Moment Award for the Grand Stairs at One Platte. It also won the 2024 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Award for the Tec de Monterrey Library.
One Platte in Denver, Colorado
Inspired by the neighboring Platte River, the grand staircase at One Platte is a biophilic, visually striking feature within a three-story atrium. The stair promotes community, well-being, and connection to nature. Its natural materials, flowing designs, and integrated lighting enhance the interior environment while encouraging healthy, engaging office lifestyles.
As a unique feature, designers carefully considered incorporating the recessed/ pocketed handrail as a continuous flow from the third level down to the public lobby below.
Reflecting water transparency, an ultra-clear tempered glass guardrail and the draft curtain preserve views of the intricate detailing and craftsmanship of the grand staircase. Modeling the way light travels through water, a continuous single-sided liner light band tracks the underbelly of the stair. It moves seamlessly from level three to the lobby, highlighting the organic movement of the stair within the space.
Tec De Monterrey CCM BiblioTec in Mexico City
In 2017, a massive earthquake nearly destroyed the Tecnologico de Monterrey campus in Mexico City. Tec de Monterrey commissioned The Beck Group to design and rebuild large components of its campus, including a new library. The goal was to improve its resiliency, sustainability, and urban connectivity. The library is Beck’s magnum opus for Tec de Monterrey, making it a hub for social and academic activities on the campus.
During the day, natural light fills the library, making the colorful interior bright and inviting. At night, the library’s interior pops with color, attracting students and faculty into the learning and collaboration spaces. The design of grand staircases gives the library a feeling of openness, familiarity, and belonging.
