Revamped Location and Collaboration

The award-winning Emory Nursing Learning Center has transformed a 1960s-era bank building into a modern educational space.

The adaptive reuse project involved the collaboration of various stakeholders, resulting in one of the largest nursing simulation centers in Georgia. The project was led by the design-build firm, The Beck Group, known for its expertise in higher education facilities and simulation centers, ensuring the successful delivery of the learning center.

Innovative Design Elements

The learning center boasts a highly collaborative design that promotes optimal nursing education and practice. Some notable features include:

• High-Tech Simulation and Skills Labs. Students can enhance their patient care skills in hospital, clinic, and home apartment settings through the advanced simulation and skills labs. These state-of-the-art facilities offer realistic scenarios for comprehensive training.
• Thoughtfully Designed Spaces. In consultation with Emory nurses, the learning center encompasses well-conceived classrooms, study areas, a student lounge, and a faculty touchdown space. These spaces create an environment conducive to learning, collaboration, and relaxation.
• Telehealth Office and Innovation Hub. The learning center includes a telehealth office and an Innovation Hub to stay at the forefront of healthcare innovation. The spaces allow students and faculty to develop and test ideas to improve patient care and nursing workflow systems.
