International Students a Major Source for Student Housing
- Nov 23, 2015
Students from other countries continue to come to the US to go to college. That’s good news for school enrollment and student housing, according to an article from nreionline.com. More than 800,000 foreign students are currently enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities, according to a report from Savills World Research, and the US remains the number one destination for international students.
Meeting the housing needs of foreign students is important to ensure a continued pipeline of funding to universities. Catering to these needs could include:
- Designing housing so that students can be housed with other people in the same situation
- Ensuring food appeals to international students
- Having staff on hand who speak the languages of the students
With the overall number of U.S. students enrolled in four-year universities levelling off, international students can be a critical component of the success of U.S. colleges, especially if they are happy with their housing situation.
