A Sneak Peek into Beck’s New Austin Office Design

  • Nov 8, 2023

We’re thrilled to share an exclusive sneak peek into our thoughtfully designed new Austin office. Still in construction, this workspace is a testament to fostering collaboration, creativity, and a strong sense of community. Keep reading to discover the strategy that shapes our newest office.

Creating an inviting and functional environment

Our primary design challenge was creating an inviting and functional environment accommodating our architecture, preconstruction, and construction personnel. The result is a dynamic space that seamlessly combines open-plan workstations, dedicated collaboration areas, and an array of meeting spaces, reflecting an aesthetic that provides a holistic and efficient workspace for all.

At the heart of the office, you’ll find our open café, designed to promote informal meetings, casual conversations, and relaxation. With various seating options, including banquettes, café tables indoors and outdoors, and bar seating, this space encourages interaction and connection.

Glass slider doors offer physical connectivity between the entry, café, and a Co-Lab space, creating a versatile environment that can host large gatherings, from holiday parties to appreciation events for clients, consultants, and guests.

Design that highlights our collaborative approach

The large workstation area combines design, preconstruction, and operations teams in one collaborative space. Integrating our teams encourages cross-functional interactions and exchanging ideas, reflecting our commitment to our multidisciplinary approach to designing and building projects.

In response to the needs of our field staff, we’ve integrated hoteling stations into the layout, ensuring they have a ‘home’ to work from when they’re in the office. This flexible approach underscores our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our team.

Diversity of meeting spaces is a crucial aspect of our strategy, ensuring the office meets our team’s varied needs. From intimate one-person focus rooms to a spacious Co-Lab capable of hosting up to 40 people, we’ve created spaces catering to small, impromptu meetings and larger, formal presentations, reinforcing our commitment to adaptability and innovation.

Materiality that Celebrates Austin’s Unique Culture

Materiality is an integral part of our design strategy. We’ve incorporated a variety of textures and warm materials, creating a relaxed, hospitable, and handmade aesthetic. It reflects our aim to celebrate Austin’s unique culture, providing a sense of place and authenticity in our workspace.

Biophilic elements, including the introduction of plants, soften the workspace, adding a natural touch and pops of color. This design approach enhances the comfort and appeal of the office, contributing to a more inviting and engaging environment for our team.

The Beck Group’s new Austin office is more than just a workspace. It embodies our commitment to employee well-being, collaboration, and innovative design.

By incorporating hospitality elements and reflecting the vibrant Austin culture, this office space is a hub for creativity and community, fostering a sense of belonging and driving our purpose forward. We’re thrilled to share this sneak peek and will share an update on the finished space in the coming months.
