The Beck Group Completes Phase 1 of the UT Dallas Athenaeum

The Beck Group announces the completion of Phase 1 of the University of Texas at Dallas’s Edith and Peter O’Donnell Jr. Athenaeum.

The Athenaeum is a milestone project designed to elevate the arts and foster cultural engagement on campus. With the first phase complete, Beck has begun construction on Phase 2. This next phase furthers the university’s vision of creating a premier cultural destination in North Texas.

Phase 1 of the Athenaeum features the newly constructed home of the Trammell and Margaret Crow Museum of Asian Art, a 57,000 SF space designed by Morphosis and built by Beck. The museum includes galleries, seminar rooms, the Rick Brettell Reading Room, and a conservation studio.

Additionally, an outdoor sculpture garden provides an inviting atmosphere for students, faculty, and the broader community to connect through art.

Phase 2 Breaks Ground, Bringing a New Music Facility to Campus

Building on this foundation, Phase 2 introduces a 66,900 SF music building. The new space will introduce a premier facility for UT Dallas’s music program. It will feature rehearsal rooms, classrooms, and a 600-seat concert hall.

Once complete, the building will provide a dedicated space for students to hone their musical talents and for the community to enjoy high-caliber performances. This new addition, also designed by Morphosis, will continue to enrich the cultural landscape on campus, further positioning the Athenaeum as a dynamic arts hub.
