Setting New Standards in Sustainability

200 Clayton is an eight-story, 76,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Denver’s Cherry Creek North district. Under GBI’s Core & Shell program, this project earned 87 percent of the applicable points for environmental sustainability, health, wellness, and resilience. “Our collaboration with Group14 Engineering, GH Phipps, and Broe Real Estate Group were crucial in achieving this distinction,” said David Morris, AIA and Principal at Beck who led design for the project.

Innovative and Sustainable Features

The project’s design incorporated numerous sustainable features, including:

  • A high-efficiency HVAC system, achieving an ENERGY STAR Target Finder score of 88.
  • An aluminum-framed curtain wall for maximum daylight access and high-performance glazing to reduce glare and heat gain.
  • The use of the OneClick LCA tool for evaluating material impacts.
  • EV charging stations and ample bicycle racks to promote eco-friendly transportation.
Visionary Design Philosophy

Inspired by the vibrancy of the Cherry Creek North area, 200 Clayton features a design that balances modern aesthetics with functional spaces.

Integrating green spaces and communal regions promotes a sense of community, while the building’s orientation maximizes natural light and ventilation, enhancing the overall living experience.

Distinctive Design Features

The building’s floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall facades along the south and west orientations offer unobstructed views of the Cherry Creek neighborhood, downtown Denver’s skyline, and the Rocky Mountain front range. The north and east-facing facades consist of punched windows surrounded by zinc panels, creating a unique texture and architectural detailing.

Recognition and Future Impact

This Four Green Globes certification is an accolade and a benchmark for future developments in Denver and beyond. It reflects Beck’s dedication to creating buildings prioritizing occupant well-being and environmental stewardship.

Beck is proud of this achievement and looks forward to continuing delivering sustainable, innovative designs that inspire and benefit communities.
