From Historic Landmark to Hotel

  • Mar 8, 2016

One of downtown Atlanta’s oldest landmarks — the Candler Building — will soon be transformed into a Curio Hotel, a luxury Hilton brand.

Beck will be responsible for architecture and construction services for this adaptive reuse project. The newly renovated hotel will feature 265 guestrooms and the main level of the hotel will feature the building’s Georgia-white marble grand staircase, original Tiffany windows, a restaurant and a bar.

First opened in 1906, the Candler Building is a masterpiece of classic design and rare architectural detail. Upon its debut, the Candler Building was the tallest in the city, and it retained that title for 23 years. Some observers viewed its location — several blocks north of Five Points, then the epicenter of Atlanta — as far removed from downtown.

The new hotel is set to open for business in late 2017, following the renovations.
