Old Parkland Featured in DFW Construction News

Dallas’ Old Parkland West Campus, designed and built by Beck, was recently featured in DFW Construction News. The article explains the challenges of maintaining a historic feel with a new building.

To accomplish this the new buildings’ materials and style were carefully crafted to match that of the original hospital:

  • A North Carolina brick company was selected to hand-make bricks in a wood-mold box.
  • Bianco Bello marble was imported from China, Costwold Cream limestone came from Israel, Crema Marfil marble was brought in from Spain and copper was sourced from Germany.

“There is a desire for this building not to look like it’s a brand new building, that it’s been here, that it has been aged,” says  Ed McGonigle, Principal, Architecture at The Beck Group. “We like that feeling in the architecture.”
