USF College of Nursing Building Tops Out in Tampa

The University of South Florida recently celebrated the topping out of its new USF College of Nursing building in Tampa. This milestone brings the project closer to supporting the growing demand for nurses across Florida.
Once complete, the facility will enable USF to enroll 200 additional nursing students and support the graduation of more than 750 nurses each year.
A Space Designed for the Future of Nursing Education
The new USF College of Nursing building is part of a larger effort to expand the university’s capacity for hands-on learning, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare.
The three-story, 85,000-square-foot facility is designed to reflect modern approaches to nursing education. It will feature simulation labs, flexible classrooms, research areas, and student-centered collaboration spaces.
The Beck Group serves as architect and general contractor, delivering the project through its design-build approach that fosters early alignment and efficient progress. The firm has partnered with its longtime partner, Envision, on the construction.
“This project is about more than expanding capacity. It’s about creating the environment that prepares future nurses for an evolving healthcare landscape,” said Ryan Toth, Regional Director at The Beck Group. “Our approach allows us to work side by side with USF to shape a facility that supports learning and well-being, while staying focused on long-term value.”
A Strategic Investment with Long-Term Impact
The project also reflects the state’s investment in healthcare education. In 2023, the State of Florida allocated $33 million in Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) funding toward the facility. The topping out ceremony marks a step forward in fulfilling that commitment and preparing for the building’s opening in 2026.
As the building takes shape, the focus shifts to the interior build-out. This phase lays the groundwork for a forward-looking space where students and faculty can learn, lead, and grow.
