DALLAS, TEXAS86,000 SFBeck – Architecture Beck – Preconstruction
One of the oldest medical specialty boards in the country, ABOG, has initiated construction to replace its current office building in Uptown Dallas TX. Having originally bought the office building in the 1990s, the new office building will be constructed on the organization’s original lot.
Beck provided architecture and preconstruction services for The American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG). ABOG manages the examination and certification of OBGYN doctors coming out of residency and maintenance of accreditation for all active doctors in the specialty. Their new 86,000 SF building will house all their distinct and separate functions. The first and second levels of the building contain a 5000-SF conference center and 59 testing rooms for their annual periods of oral examinations (space that may also be used by other medical boards who do not have a permanent facility).
ABOG was one of the first medical certification boards to move its oral Certifying Examinations from hotels to a professional testing center location more than 25 years ago. The new building design will modernize the testing center and enhance the assessments with larger examination rooms, including the added functionality of audiovisual equipment.
The third level hosts the proctors of the exams during testing weeks and has an additional 6,500 SF of meeting space for periodic gatherings by the same group. The fourth level serves as the office space for ABOG’s 40+ full-time employees. Other amenities of the building include two catering kitchens, two covered terraces at the upper levels, video production rooms, a fitness center, and a ground-level terrace/patio.
