    Beck – Architecture

Creating space for its rapidly growing congregation was essential for Austin Ridge located in the beautiful Hill Country landscape of Austin. Beck was engaged to design spaces for worship, gathering, children’s ministry and parking improvements to allow for the maximum potential expansion of the church, while respecting the spectacular beauty of the natural site and celebrating the unique Austin vibe. Beck’s master plan and building design solutions created over 79,000 SF of new space, connection of indoor and outdoor environments, renovations to existing education spaces, and extensive improvements to traffic flow and parking including a 500-car parking garage.

Center piece of the campus improvements was a new 2500-seat worship center, featuring authentic expressions of materials throughout the building.  The worship room is a striking example of old and new ideas of sacred space, with a dramatic open, wood and steel truss ceiling, clerestory windows that allow natural light to infuse the space, and advanced video and lighting production capabilities.  The environment is also surprisingly intimate and engaging for both speaking and singing, with a wide, wrapping balcony design, reminiscent of some of the world’s great preaching rooms.
