The Baptist St. Anthony (BSA) Healthcare System needed to expand its emergency department, but faced significant site constraints and infrastructural challenges. Among the challenges faced by Beck’s team was designing a functional space capable of receiving 100,000 annual visits within a 40,000 SF footprint. Additionally, the project had to be separated into three construction phases, all of which needed to have minimal disruption to the existing emergency department. Beck’s design team created an emergency department that used a six-room RTI (Rapid Treatment Intake) module within its 44-bed main chassis, allowing care teams to assess patients upon arrival and determine the most efficient zone for treatment.
