Frisco, Texas92,000 SFBeck – Architecture
The Preston Ridge IT Center is the home of Collin College’s new four-year IT/Cyber Security program degree.
Building on solid networking and operating systems foundation that provides students with the prerequisite knowledge to succeed in cybersecurity, the BAT in Cybersecurity provides students with a hands-on program covering multiple aspects of cybersecurity, including penetration testing, defensive operations, basic cryptography, privacy, cybercrime, and cyber policy.
The building forms the northern terminus of the central north-south axis of the existing Preston Ridge campus. It creates a new north quadrangle that future buildings will be oriented around. An ample main atrium space that marks this axial terminus serves as the primary organizational feature of the building. The specialized computer labs and classrooms that make up the building program are organized on a circulation pattern around the atrium. All vertical circulation and student collaborative spaces are situated around the atrium.
