The landmark Crescent complex opened in 1986. At the time, the Beck-built project was one of the most expensive real estate developments ever built in Dallas. Crescent Real Estate Equities, the long-time owner of the project, wanted to increase tenant occupancy and accessibility to the public. Beck’s construction team worked with Crescent on the nearly $25 million renovation project. The renovation features updated lighting, lush landscaping and a new one-acre park that integrates the project into the surrounding neighborhood. Paved areas in the central courtyard have been reduced and replaced with trees, planting areas and outdoor seating. Retail on the lower floors of the three office buildings was opened up to provide access to the outside. New glass storefronts were added to the retail spaces. Inside the shopping atrium, a sunken fountain was replaced with open seating and an entertainment area.
