With its prominent position at the entrance of downtown, the Hunt Oil Company’s corporate headquarters has quickly become a landmark for the City of Dallas. Beck’s design team was charged with integrating the new building into the cultural fabric of the city and the adjacent Arts District. The 14-story building’s focal point is its majestic glass sail and cylinder element, complemented by landscaped fountains and a flowing stream. Its dramatic exterior lighting can be programmed to create seasonal light shows. Noted by Bloomberg BusinessWeek as one of America’s greenest headquarters, the state-of-the-art office building’s daylight harvesting system decreases energy use by adjusting electric lights as natural light changes throughout the day. Recycled materials were used in construction and in the building’s furniture and fixtures.
