Located next to a busy executive airport, J-W Energy Company’s corporate headquarters is housed in a renovated plane hangar. Beck’s team created an exterior design featuring a large, arching metal canopy, four 20-foot wood screen elements, and, as a nod to the boarding process from the early days of flight, a floating metal staircase with perforated mesh railing. The building includes operational space for small plane storage, yoga studio, exercise studio, kitchen, and a large, multi-functional training room. With a single corporate tenant, the second floor’s open plan workspace features exposed ceilings and a large reclaimed wood beam structure over one of the many studios that divide the space. The LEED certified building was designed for energy efficiency.
