When RadioShack Corporation outgrew the Tandy Center which Beck built in the 1970s, the company again turned to Beck to build its new 900,000 SF campus-style headquarters along the Trinity River. Hoping to inject new life into the greater central city area of Fort Worth, the building was designed to fully reflect its location and surroundings. Three brick- and glass-shrouded buildings fan out to accentuate the curve of the river. Nudged among these three and linking them is the commons building, filled with multi-purpose facilities and shuttling the necessary electrical, communications, control conduits and HVAC piping systems to the entire campus. The main entrance to the complex is signified by a circular drive and a notable cylindrical tower-skylight. The entire 31 acre site is dotted with greenways, fountains, water walls and extensive landscaping. The project earned LEED Silver certification.
