Royal Gorge Bridge and Park Visitor’s Center
- Cañon City, Colorado11,117 SFBeck – Architect Beck – Construction
Colorado’s historic Royal Gorge Bridge and Park was nearly 100% destroyed by a wildfire on June 11, 2013. With the park’s estimated regional economic impact of $25 million to $30 million, officials wasted no time in moving forward with rebuilding plans. Beck’s integrated design and construction approach was ideal for the fast-track project approach. Beck’s new park design includes many improvements to the historic park, including an amphitheater, zipline station and aerial gondola, and a children’s playland. The project’s first phase, delivered in just eight months, included a new visitors’ center and a food and merchandise complex.
The scope of the project can be seen in this video.
