When a major healthcare corporation relocated its corporate headquarters to the iconic Fountain Place Building in downtown Dallas, it tapped Beck, the building’s original builder to provide construction services. In addition to building the corporation’s new interior office and conference space, Beck’s team upgraded a large portion of the building’s HVAC system to a chilled water system and added a server room, which required added cooling. All work took place while the building was occupied by other tenants, which meant that work had to progress with a minimum of noise. To avoid any disruptive power outages, commissioning activities were scheduled for overnight and weekend hours. A key challenge for the project was an accelerated schedule due to lease demands on the client. Beck’s team delivered the floors in a phased manner, which allowed the client to move into the leased floors as they were completed.
