IBM/Tivoli Corporation is one of IBM’s fastest-growing and profitable divisions. Built by Beck, its new regional headquarters includes office space, software development labs, a visitor’s center for showcasing products and a 589-car parking garage. Much of the 90-acre site was specifically left undeveloped so that open space and walking trails could be incorporated. The building’s design provides captivating views of the extensive landscaping. The campus is also accessible by bike trails and four major bus lines. Recognizing how important sustainable design was to its employees, IBM/Tivoli decided to build the new campus in a sustainable way. By incorporating a wide variety of green building strategies, including thoughtful site selection, design that focused on energy efficiency, and careful materials choices, the project earned a 4-Star rating from the Green Building Program and a Certified LEED rating.
