Vail Valley Medical Center (VVMC), a community hospital, outgrew its current campus and did not have the property for a horizontal expansion. Beck developed a master plan that would solve the current need for VVMC to expand their community based acute care service lines. Beck engaged in extensive due diligence to determine the feasibility of renovating the existing campus verses relocating primary service lines. Beck’s construction team completed an eight-week series of renovation projects before starting the main overbuild project. Five departments were relocated to accommodate the new construction, as the entire second floor of the existing building was demolished to allow the addition of three new levels. New spaces in the facility include a women’s and children’s center with seven LDRP rooms, four postpartum rooms, one recovery suite, one c-section operating room and associated facilities. A new ambulatory surgery center has four operating rooms and recovery rooms.
