The Simpson Athletics and Academic, part of the Highers Athletic Complex, is specifically designed to support all student-athletes and the staff members who serve them within a single facility. Built by Beck, the 96,300 SF building contains cutting-edge athletic training equipment, support space for all athletes and staff, locker rooms, sports medicine and rehabilitation areas, a 6,000 SF learning center, 22 individual tutoring rooms, a computer lab, classrooms, administrative offices, and team meeting rooms. Located directly behind the Simpson Center are two natural surface football practice fields along with the state-of-the-art Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility. The building allows team practice when inclement weather and extreme temperatures might affect the players. Its synthetic playing surface complements the two natural grass practice fields adjacent to the facility, preparing the Baylor football team for all playing conditions. Both projects were awarded LEED Silver certification for their sustainability features.
