Beck Earns Two AIA Dallas Built Design Awards

The Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded The Beck Group with two Built Design Awards: Tec de Monterrey CCM Biblioteca received an Honor Award, while Vine Street was recognized with a Merit Award.
Tec de Monterrey CCM Biblioteca
AIA Dallas honored Tec de Monterrey CCM Biblioteca with an Honor Award. The new library, the centerpiece of the campus, serves as both a traditional library and a vital component of Tec de Monterrey’s collaborative pedagogical system.
The main atrium, which features spiraling circulation paths and floating breakout rooms, embodies the university’s collaborative ethos, creating a civic space that encourages interaction. Each floor gradually transitions from public to private usage, culminating in exterior terraces and classrooms that take advantage of Mexico City’s mild climate.
The building’s exterior design responds thoughtfully to the environment. A glass curtain wall dominates the northern facade, while other facades feature shading fins of varying depths. The project replaces the campus’s original exterior wall with plazas and parks, fostering stronger community connections and creating a lush urban oasis that offers a safe and secure environment for all. With sustainability as a core focus, the project achieved LEED Platinum certification.
Vine Street
The Vine Street project earned a Merit Award from AIA Dallas. This new testing and conference center enhances Uptown Dallas’s urban environment through a design that emphasizes sustainability and human-centric principles.
The project prioritizes community integration, ecological health, water conservation, and economic viability. Situated on 1.14 acres in a peaceful residential neighborhood, the building is easily accessible by foot, mass transit, and bike, supporting the city’s efforts to reduce traffic congestion. To mitigate the urban heat island effect, all parking is covered, and reflective materials are used for paving and roofing. The landscaping maximizes green space with outdoor areas that feature native plants, improving user comfort and offering a natural retreat. The project achieved LEED Silver Certification and a Fitwel 2-Star rating.
